“Netsticity and Ecsticity”
It is not necessary to believe:
to leave the window, door ajar a crack,
to set the extra Sabbath plate,
to let the inner ear spiral open,
third eye open to light,
to stand in dark to wait
for the tender Muslim moon to smile,
to stay in dream’s bed
the extra ‘Rumi’ moment,
let vision’s whim guide your journey,
let a tickle guide your fingers’ journal,
exploring, blind,
potter to life’s turning wheel,
to taste bitter and find it also sweet,
to taste forbidden, taste foreboding,
gulp relief, “Take back the night!”
to move past man-made fears,
to parent tears,
to un-mask the greedy men
who make fear our ’father,’
to let fear’s lies
blow away on a wind
like cinders from a true fire,
to welcome bright-eyed owl
and many-armed spider,
snake shedding Her skin reborn,
scarab encasing hope beyond death,
to stretch gently beyond clenched fear,
to own the wrinkly witch in the mirror,
to walk through reality
with naked courage,
to let the meteor of awe
fall deep within, to awaken
to poetry between the lines of prose,
to meditation between breaths,
to gratitude for Mystery.
It is not necessary to believe
to become real,
to feel, to come alive, to heal,
to let reality swing open:
door to ecstasy!
