Cycle Unbroken

Face in the rock that crumbled and is gone,

She has become a song of earth and sky and sea

that lives in me, lives on,

beloved landscape to which I will belong

past breath, past death, in wind that carries on.

Jutland.  Profile    ephemeral    rock exposed

(eternal elements of change)   obdurate

facets crumbling  face of the wild   spirit mask

wind-beating heart    silhouette   light and dark.

She is not Her face that time erases,

visage of rock, crumbled by wind and wave.

She is this place and every place,

each gift a moment gave.

Yet Her face arrests us, rests us,

stops us in our track.

She-who-is-our-breath, our life, our day

until She is our death and takes it back:

Her changing beauty takes our breath away!

Face Her with fearless gratitude

in every play of attitude.

She is the Crystal Mystery,

kaleidoscope of hope, facets of grace.
